Agra: Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is actually a complex of several buildings. The mausoleum built by Shahjahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal is the centerpiece; it is flanked by four minarets and balanced by a mosque and a symmetrically matching guest house. An elaborate entrance gate leads to the gardens and, beyond the gardens, the Taj Mahal. Behind the Taj is the Yamuna River, and we visited the gardens on the other side for a view of the Taj from the back.
