People
The people we met in Tanzania were uniformly warm and welcoming. Although cities like Arusha are modern, in the small rural villages of the Maasai the people have retained much of their culture and traditional dress. We had the opportunity to visit a school, listen to a storyteller, and visit a "boma" (cluster of mud/stick huts surrounded by a thorny fence to keep in their livestock and keep out the predators). On the day we visited this boma, there was a celebration underway for a boy who had just become a warrior, and the people welcomed us to join the celebration.
