Cheetah kill sequence
While we watched this cheetah and her two cubs resting in the shade, mom cheetah suddenly stood up and loped off toward the horizon. Stealthily she crept through the grass and around a large termite mound, toward a small group of Thomson Gazelle. When she started her sprint, it was too late for the Tommies to out-race her; within 100m she had caught and killed a gazelle. The cubs quietly jumped up when she left, and when the chase started they ran to the gazelle on an intercept course. She stepped aside to rest and watch for others who may come to steal the kill, while the cubs settled in for their meal. Amazing! Even the guides said this sight was a rare treat for them. (The last item below is a video, shot through binoculars.)
