We took a taxi from Delhi to Dharamsala, and return; it was about 9.5 hours northbound and about 10-11 hours (due to traffic jam) southbound, including stops. Bumpy, twisty, and dusty, not to mention scary. See blog at https://davidkotz.org/2008/12/29/to-and-from-dharamsala/.
